Learning a new language can be tedious and frustrating. Fortunately, a new generation of young companies take advantage of advances in mobile and web technologies to make this process more enjoyable and rewarding. Today, companies like Livemocha, PlaySay, Voxy italki, MindSnacks and Duolingo offer more viable alternatives to traditional software learning languages, the world Rosetta Stone.
Another recent participant in the space is a graduate of Y Combinator Verbling a bootable DOS venture that wants to help learners become polyglots by using the video chat to connect with the real, living native speakers.
