Verbling Service learning launches Google Hangouts-Powered Classes, supports 9 new languages

Learning a new language can be tedious and frustrating. Fortunately, a new generation of young companies take advantage of advances in mobile and web technologies to make this process more enjoyable and rewarding. Today, companies like Livemocha, PlaySay, Voxy italki, MindSnacks and Duolingo offer more viable alternatives to traditional software learning languages, the world Rosetta Stone.

Another recent participant in the space is a graduate of Y Combinator Verbling a bootable DOS venture that wants to help learners become polyglots by using the video chat to connect with the real, living native speakers. Unlike the Duolingo focused on the text and algorithms, Verbling wants to help users to get under control and avoid the stall of the bug by creating a video chat live frictionless experience in the browser that promotes the immersion - even if it is virtual.

After joining, starting automatically matches people who want to learn Spanish and who are fluent in English, for example, on the other hand, those who are fluent in Spanish and who want to learn English. It is an immersion by reciprocity. Users are by their level of experience and are encouraged to switch between languages (by a timer that goes with it), with the system suggesting different guests and targets along the way.

Since its launch earlier this year, Verbling has focused exclusively on the English and Spanish, but the company is now adding support for nine new languages, including Italian, French, German, Mandarin, Japanese, Hebrew, Portuguese, Arabic and Russian, which brings the total to eleven. Mikael founder Bernstein says that these were the languages requested by most of its users and, really, they are the languages most commonly spoken in the world.

Several sites offer some sort of tool to connect with native speakers, including courses and lessons on it. Bernstein believes that Verbling has an advantage in this respect because that his summer focused on the laser on his correspondence from novice to expert and one model video.

Co-founder tells us that users participating in more than 50,000 per month and meetings training sessions has been growing month to month 317% in November, which he hopes will be composed with the launch of its new language support. On tap, with more and more sessions Verbling also launched its own classes.

But it does stick to its roots in video-chat, as "Verbling Classes" provides nine students language, the ability to join the classes powered by Google Lair led by a Professor Verbling official certified TEFL. Bernstein said they were initially skeptical about the help bubbles, but after Google reached out to offer you the solution, as seriously as a valid way to reproduce a school environment. Something he said which can provide an experience of virtual classroom that is more fun and more focused on the conversation and that could become a vehicle for future monetization.

For its main video chat experience, Verbling is trying to improve the rigidity by allowing users to stay in touch with a chat partner if they enjoyed the conversation and found it productive. Learn a new language is no doubt helped by adding a little consistency and familiarity, then being able to send a friend request through the platform, the other (or simply make a voice call if video looks awkward) is a great way to encourage users to build professional working relationships and seek there where they have left message.

As a first step, commissioning only runs its course language of haunt Google in English, which is limited by class, but will be hosted on a variety of topics. Nine will get directly involved, but even if you don't, you can always listen to and participate actively. Go ahead, Bernstein says that the startup wants to be able to allow students to pay a small fee to secure their place in one of his classes.

Go ahead, Verbling will focus on the strengthening of this part of the site and will raise an additional round of financing to support this growth. 1 Million startup $ of DFJ, Learn Capital, funds, Inspovation Ventures, SV Angel, Meck Investments, Ace & business start-ups and others, in January. Co - special also tells us that the Verbling has recently added Gustav Rydstedt as its new CTO, who was once the Chief at Blizzard Diablo 3 and hired engineer T20-under-20 finalists and co-founder of FamilyLeaf Brandon Paton.

Verbling offers users an innovative way to learn new languages by using the video chat technology.
