First designer of Twitter, Vitor Lourenço, leaves the company after five years

Things change everywhere, especially at the start. Sometimes, people who start something are not those that end with "Finish", and it is the case today with a very important person at Twitter. In a tweet, first designer of Twitter, Vitor Lourenço, announced that it leaves the company after five years.

He took the opportunity to thank Ev Williams, one of its founders, to give him a chance and got a quick response. Now, stop and think about how many people got to see and use, he has worked on five years. Pretty cool, huh?

Some people will read too much into that as a sign that things are moving in a bad way to Twitter. Since I'm around startups for so long, I've seen this type of wear and tear occur in real time. In fact, the five years Lourenço on Twitter are quite impressive. Some people say that Twitter is "swing," good or bad, and that what we see today is not what we see tomorrow. I tend to disagree with this line of thought, but it is never easy to lose your original designer. We have tended to Twitter for comment.

In a 2009 interview, here is the young designer had to say about his work on one of the most popular applications consumer than we've ever seen:

You are known to have worked on one of the largest sites in the world, Twitter. Can you tell us about the steps that you took to transform this already simple site style more elegant, intuitive, so many people have come to know and love?

I worked with a team of engineers from Twitter to simplify the application's user interface even more, by following some of the concepts of simplicity by John Maeda: shrink, hide, and embody. Therefore, the application does not lose any of its features, but they were better integrated and aggregated on the site, by introducing a unified sidebar with a vertical tabbed browsing. In terms of Visual design, we refined the typography styles button and fixed-width and grid inconsistencies. On the technical layer front end, we have introduced AJAX to display updates and switching tabs, while improving the performance of the site with images using CSS sprites.

What will then Lourenço? The sky is the limit, because it realized that simplicity is what want to real people, not just a few geeks. If it's a $ $ app, web service or something on a piece of paper, there is no need to do if it is not easy enough for everyone to understand.

In his biography of current Twitter San Francisco based Lourenço supply and no indication of his next move does. I'm sure that he will keep us updated... on Twitter.

I was the first designer at Twitter, where more than 5 years, I helped change the way people communicate. Now to know what's next.

People come, people go, but our work and our passion are lift for a lifetime. Boy I would like to see it land in the middle where rules of simplicity.
